Cognitive assessments
Cognitive assessments can help clarify a diagnosis, provide a benchmark for later testing, understand a prognosis and determine the best way forward.
When an assessment helps
When there is a question of possible dementia, a cognitive evaluation can confirm or suggest other possible causes of symptoms.
When there is a question of capacity, assessments can help clarify if someone is capable of performing critical activities such as managing money, changing a will or living alone.
We provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where the person being assessed is treated with dignity, respect and kindness.
What we assess
- Attention
- Executive function, including flexibility, abstract thinking, inhibition, planning and problem-solving
- Memory
- Language
- Visuospatial abilities
- Conceptualisation
